How the Program Works for Families:

The Making Moves CNY Program offers housing mobility coaching and financial assistance to families with Housing Choice Vouchers who have children 18 or under. Our goal is to help families access neighborhoods with strong schools, safe environments, and greater opportunities.​​

If you meet the following criteria, please fill out the interest form below. ​

  • Are currently a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) holder with Syracuse Housing Authority or Christopher Community

  • ​Have at least one child under the age of 18 living in the household

  • Are currently in good standing with your Housing Choice Voucher provider (i.e., no overdue rent or utility bills)​

  • Are interested in moving to a well-resourced community (better schools, community resources, and recreational activities)

  • Do not already live in one of the neighborhoods listed below

For Property Owners:

Making Moves also partners with local property owners who want to make a difference. By renting to Making Moves families, owners receive ongoing support and financial incentives while helping expand housing opportunities in our community.

Reliable Rent: The Housing Choice Voucher Program offers property owners guaranteed rental payments that are federally funded and locally administered by the Housing Authority.

Lease-Up Incentives:  Property owners who lease up with a program tenant will be eligible for financial incentives.

Make a Difference: Help families access safe neighborhoods and better opportunities. A fresh start and stable home can make all the difference for kids and adults alike.
