Position Description: CNY Fair Housing is hiring a full-time Paralegal to assist the organization’s staff attorneys with fair housing administrative complaints and civil cases in state and federal court.


Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Paralegal include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide administrative support to staff attorneys in all aspects of their work as needed including scheduling, reviewing and organizing documents, drafting discovery requests and responses, and communicating with clients 

  • Review transcripts and documentary evidence, and organize, track, and extract information from these materials

  • Maintain client contact to gather evidence for cases and provide updates on status of cases, etc.

  • File legal documents with court and coordinate proper service on opposing parties

  • Conduct factual and legal research and prepare written memos and reports

  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed



  • Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or 2 years paralegal/legal secretary experience required

  • Desire to work to advance civil rights and social justice

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize assignments and manage deadlines 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of state and federal court rules and filing procedures

  • Experience in working effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds; skill in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
